Stage-based Behavioural Transformation (SBT)™
Changing behaviour is difficult. Although billions are spent in the belief that ‘this training programme will be different’, evidence shows that traditional training methods achieve only a 3 – 4% success rate in delivering permanent behavioural change.

ASK’s unique approach and philosophy has developed and evolved, informed by our practical work with clients and inspired by our thirst for new knowledge from the academic world.

Precontemplation
"It isn't that I can't see the solution, I just can't see the problem"

Contemplation
"I know I ought to do something and I'm thinking about it but I'm not ready"

Preparation
"I've made up my mind and I'm making detailed plans"

Action
"I'm taking observable positive steps to change my behaviour"

Maintenance
"I'm working hard with the support of others to avoid lapsing back into old ways"

We have synthesised our learning into a methodology we believe to be unique called Stage-based Behavioural Transformation (SBT)™, which delivers ten times the average success of conventional training interventions. It provides:
  • The momentum needed to initiate behavioural change
  • The self-knowledge to identify what must be changed
  • Skills that will enable the individual to begin to be different
  • Support and encouragement that will sustain change
  • Reward and recognition that will ensure change becomes permanent.

Many intervention types can help people change their behaviour, but their timing is as important as their nature. People who succeed in changing their behaviour rarely adhere to a particular model or theory, using different solutions at different stages.

So we are not dogmatic about the tools we use – just the process we follow. We may use familiar concepts and ideas, but apply them to the realities of a manager’s work in a way that moves them from contemplation to action. Our mix of strategies is also designed to transfer, apply and sustain new behaviours through the use of ‘follow-through’ technology.
